The purpose of these 2018, 2019, and three weeks into 2020 posts is to address the subject of “Assurances of Salvation.” Most posts will ask a question. Our answer should be, “Yes.” For each “yes” will give us more assurance that we have come to GOD’s offer of eternal life His way.

What peace there is when we can assure ourselves that we are a child of God. No one wants the shock at death of finding out our energies have not secured a place in heaven.

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13 ESV). “The knowledge that we have eternal life is something that is possible to us” Martyn Lloyd-Jones (ref#189, Dec 16th). If you don’t know, he’s saying, you can know. And what peace there is in knowing!

Some people think they may not be a Christian and are. And then, some think they are Christians and are not. It is so easy to preform good deeds, flattering ourselves that we are impressing GOD and He is pleased with us.

Something we all must remember is that our hearts are sick and deceive us (Jer 17:9). We cannot depend on what we think is the way of GOD.

If these questions are pulling you down instead of strengthening, it would be prudent to start over from the beginning with GOD. Consider reading the “Salvation” tab on the main menu bar.

“Many speak peace to themselves, to whom God does not speak peace” Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible (ref#18, [Rom 8:16]).
