Personal Affliction Comes from GOD
FATHER, I am struggling. Remind me that You are the Author of my affliction as well as my Comforter. Resign me as You did Eli when Samuel brought him disturbing word from the LORD: he said, “…’It is the Lord; let Him do what seems good to Him’” (1 Sam 3:18 AMP).
Aid me in realizing that I can trace Your hand in general evil as well as my personal affliction. It comes to me by Your “arrangement, faithfulness, and love” (ref#134, p59).
Assist me to sweetly submit to Your righteousness and sovereign will. Bring me to understand that Your knife only prunes and Your fire only refines and all Your work increases (his/her) holiness and promotes (his/her) happiness and usefulness (ref#134, p58). Give me the ability to be still before You so that I see Your wisdom in all the ways You lead me through the thorns and home to Yourself (ref#134, p54).
