PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“Our early training, the teaching of the Church, the influence of habit, the stirring of the emotions—how easily these lead to prayer which has no spiritual power, and avails but little….True prayer…must be to the glory of God, in full surrender to His will, in full assurance of faith, in the name of Jesus, and with a perseverance that, if need be, refuses to be denied. All this must be learned” Andrew Murray (ref#19, FIRST LESSON).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because You have separated me from the peoples that I should be Yours (Lev 20:26), I will wait for You.

Because You establish Your covenant between You and me, to be a GOD to me (Gen 17:7), I will wait for You.

Because You consecrate and make me holy (Lev 22:32), I will wait for You.

Because You are the LORD who sanctifies me (Lev 20:8), I will wait for You.

Because You draw me to Yourself, investing me with all the privileges and rewards of the new life in CHRIST (1 Thes 1:10), I will wait for You.

PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“Satan dreads nothing but prayer—The church that lost its Christ was full of good works….Souls may be lost in good works, as surely as in evil ways. The one concern of the devil is to keep the saints from prayer….He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray” E. M. Bounds (ref#54, p186).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because Your mercy and lovingkindness endure forever (Ps 118:29), I will wait for You.

Because You will be gracious to the sound of my cry (Isa 30:19), I will wait for You.

Because You pardon my guilt (Ps 25:11), I will wait for You.

PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“What do I lose when I have a praying life? Control. Independence. What do I gain? Friendship with God. A quiet heart. The living work of God in the hearts of those I love. The ability to roll back the tide of evil. Essentially, I lose my kingdom and get his. I move from being an independent player to a dependent lover. I move from being an orphan to a child of God” Paul E. Miller (ref#62, p125-126).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because You keep guard over knowledge, and overthrow the words of the treacherous (Prov 22:12), I will wait for You.

Because all Your decrees and precepts are sure (fixed, established, and trustworthy) (Ps 111:7), I will wait for You.

Because Your works stand fast and are established forever and ever (Ps 111:8), I will wait for You.

PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“Prayer is an act of worship inasmuch as it is the prostrating of the soul before Him; inasmuch as it is a calling upon His great and holy name; inasmuch as it is the owning of His goodness, His power, His immutability, His grace, and inasmuch as it is the recognition of His sovereignty, owned by a submission to His will” Arthur W. Pink (ref#152, p136).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because You know the secrets of the heart (Ps 44:21), I will wait for You.

Because You do not regard the rich more than the poor (Job 34:19), I will wait for You.

Because You are a shield to those who put their trust in You (Prov 30:5), I will wait for You.

Prayer Facts:

“As the Son began His prayer by making clear His relation to the Father, pleading His work and obedience and His desire to see the Father glorified, do so too.
