ASSURANCES THROUGH THE BIBLE
“The Bible is the most definite book that was ever written….The Bible is definite about salvation; so definite that if a man is saved and knows his Bible, and you put to him the question, ‘Are you saved,’ he will reply, in all humility and yet with equal confidence, ‘Yes, God in His infinite mercy and condescension has saved even me.’” R. A. Torrey (ref#223, p111).
FATHER, Your Bible has a lot to say to a true Christian as far as assuring him You will always love and never leave him. True Christians have an insatiable interest in Scripture. It is their “bread of life,” for it one does not read Scripture one cannot build his faith to the point of “knowing.”
A sample of the way GOD speaks to His children through His written Word:
“You did not choose me, but I chose you…” (John 15:16 ESV).
“…Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you” (Jer 31:3 AMP).
“And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord” (Hos 2:19-20 ESV).
“(You) shall…dwell beneath my shadow; (you) shall flourish like the grain; (you) shall blossom like the vine; (your) fame shall be like the wine of Lebanon” (Hos 14:7 ESV) (parentheses mine).
