It is not wrong to challenge our assurance of salvation.  FATHER, I cannot help but feel undeserving of Your great redemption for I so often fail in pleasing You.  So in perfect honesty I doubt and am not assured that You still delight in me.

“God has at best but a portion of our affections.  It is true there are moments when we sincerely and ardently desire to be fully and unreservedly surrendered to Him, but the ensnaring power of some rival object soon confirms how partial and imperfect our surrender has been” A.W. Pink (ref#269, p123).

FATHER, Satan tells me the truth when he brings to my mind various sins.  It is natural for me to question my salvation because of my many sins. My salvation sometimes does not assure me of my salvation.

“…a Christian…finds it no easy matter to be assured of his sincerity, or to establish solid comfort in his soul….we have just cause to mourn the feebleness of our faith, the coldness of our love, and the grievous imperfections of our obedience” A.W. Pink (ref#269 p137).

But remember: “Your death in Christ has freed you completely from the control of self: it has no power over you, except as you, in ignorance, or unwatchfulness, or unbelief, consent to yield to its usurped authority” Andrew Murray (ref#266, p189).

However know: “It is not possible to fatally ‘deceive’ one of God’s elect (Matt 24:24)….1 John 2:27: the Spirit indwells the Christian ‘forever’ (John 14:16)…” A.W. Pink (ref#269, p71).

 “1    The Holy Ghost in Scripture saith
Expressly, in one part,
Speaking by Peter’s mouth, “By faith
God purifies the heart.”

2    Now, what in holy writ he says,
In part or through the whole,
The self-same truths, by various ways,
He teaches in the soul.

3    Experience likewise tells us this;
Before the Saviour’s blood
Has washed us clean, and made our peace,
We can do nothing good.

4    [But here, my friends, the danger lies;
Errors of different kind
Will still creep in, which devils devise
To cheat the human mind.

5    “I want no work within,” says one;
“’Tis all in Christ the Head;”
Thus, careless, he goes blindly on,
And trusts a faith that’s dead.

6    “’Tis dangerous,” another cries,
“To trust to faith alone;
Christ’s righteousness will not suffice
Except I add my own.”

7    Thus he, that he may something do,
To shun the impending curse,
Upon the old will patch the new,
And make the rent still worse.

8    Others affirm, “The Spirit of God
To true believers given,
Makes all their thoughts and acts so good,
They’re always fit for heaven.”

9    The babe of Christ, at hearing this,
Is filled with anxious fear;
Conscience condemns, corruptions rise,
And drive him near despair.

10    These trials weaklings suffer here;
Censure and scorn without;
And from within, what’s worse to bear,
Despondency and doubt.

11    But, gracious Lord, who once didst feel
What weakness is and fears,
Who gott’st thy victory over hell
With groans, and cries, and tears;

12    Do thou direct our feeble hearts
To trust thee for the whole;
The work of grace in all its parts
Accomplish in the soul.

13    Thy Holy Spirit into us breathe;
A perfect Saviour prove;
Lord, give us faith, and let that faith
Work all thy will by love.]” J. Hart (ref#224).

screen-shot-2017-02-03-at-3-00-00-pmOf old You laid the foundation of the earth,

and the heavens are the work of Your hands.

They will perish, but You will endure;

they will grow old, but Your years will have no end (Ps 102:25-27).

Before the mountains were brought forth,

or ever You had formed the earth,

even from everlasting to everlasting,

You are God (Ps 90:2).

You are the Rock, Your work is perfect;

for all Your ways are just,

a God of truth, without iniquity—

righteous and upright are You (Deut 32:4).

Behold, You are my salvation,

I will trust and not be afraid;

yes, the LORD, is my strength and song;

You also have become my salvation (Isa 12:2).

“I rejoice to think that all things are at Thy disposal, and I love to leave them there. Then prayer turns wholly into praise, and all I can do is to adore and love thee” The Valley of Vision (ref#76, p49).

Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 12.12.38 PMYou, GREAT FATHER, have given me faith

to know of Your existence (Heb 11:6).

You have formed me from the dust

and breathed living life into me (Gen 2:7).

Your standards are most glorious

but I fall short of them (Rom 3:23).

Therefore, You destine me to die;

And I face Your certain wrath (Heb 9:27).

But, by Your free gift of grace

I am delivered from Your judgment.

You make me a partaker of CHRIST’s salvation

through my faith and not through my striving (Eph 2:8).

You make my death temporal

not letting me continue under its power.

You give me a resurrection

to life eternal (John 11:26).

CHRIST is the way, the truth, and the life.

I come to You, GOD, through CHRIST (John 14:6).

He bore my sins so I might die to them.

Through CHRIST I can live rightly (1 Pet 2:24).

Through CHRIST, through CHIRST,

I turn to praise.

I adore and love Thee—

through CHRIST, through CHRIST.
