You are the King of all the earth (Ps 47:7).

You cannot be defeated or surpassed (ref#110, p1451).

You reign over the nations (Ps 47:8).

You are supranational—

You are over all the nations in authority (ref#110, p1346);

You have within Yourself all that is necessary (ref#110, p1217).

You are highly exalted (Ps 47:9);

You are the highest point;

You are the pinnacle (ref#110, p1026).

Unbeatable and self-contained (ref#110, p1451, 1217).

CONFESSION

WHO IS DOING THE DOING?

“Not all deeds done for God are His deeds. Doing for Him is not enough; the question is, who is doing the doing? God will not recognize any labor as His if it simply reflects the believer’s activity and is carried out in his strength” Roy and Revel Hession (ref#101, p44).

When the Apostle Paul says I am to work out my own salvation (Phil 2:12-13), he is not saying to me to get busy and convince You, FATHER, that I love You. If I have any thought of impressing You it signals my activities are birthed from ruling myself. Working out my salvation is not choosing Christian activities that I want to do.

FATHER, instead of permitting my perverse nature to work out my salvation, bequeath me that I may, with concentration and care work out the nature You have put in me when You changed my nature (ref#7, June 6th). I want You to dominate more and more of my life (ref#7, June 7th); I want to be more and more acquainted with Your good work, not my own good work—Your rule, not my rule.

“The moment we begin to feel satisfied that we are making some progress along the road of sanctification, it is all the more necessary to repent and confess that all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags….God alone knows our good works, all we know is his good work. We can do no more than…carry on and rely on his grace,…and—sin” Dietrich Bonhoeffer (ref#10, p297).

JESUS Is LORD

You sent Your Son into the world

so that I might live through Him (1 John 4:9).

All Your promises in Him are Yes,

and in Him Amen, to Your glory (2 Cor 1:20).

He is perfectly adapted to my needs

—holy, blameless, unstained by sin,

separated from sinners, and

exalted higher than the heavens (Heb 7:25,26).

My LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Messiah,

yielded Himself up to atone for my sin

and to save and sanctify me—

to rescue and deliver me from this present age (Gal 1:3-4).

In Him I was made Your heritage

and I obtained an inheritance (Eph 1:11).

In accordance with Your will and

purpose and plan, my FATHER (Gal 1:4).

PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“Our early training, the teaching of the Church, the influence of habit, the stirring of the emotions—how easily these lead to prayer which has no spiritual power, and avails but little….True prayer…must be to the glory of God, in full surrender to His will, in full assurance of faith, in the name of Jesus, and with a perseverance that, if need be, refuses to be denied. All this must be learned” Andrew Murray (ref#19, FIRST LESSON).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because You have separated me from the peoples that I should be Yours (Lev 20:26), I will wait for You.

Because You establish Your covenant between You and me, to be a GOD to me (Gen 17:7), I will wait for You.

Because You consecrate and make me holy (Lev 22:32), I will wait for You.

Because You are the LORD who sanctifies me (Lev 20:8), I will wait for You.

SUPPLICATION

GENERAL TRIBULATION

[We all can think of a Christian sister or brother experiencing so much affliction they may not be able to pray for themselves. Here’s an opportunity to pray for them. Fill their name in the blanks.]

CHRIST’S PITY

FATHER, because ____ is CHRIST’s, He takes more pains and gives more of His presence to (him/her) when (he/she) needs it (ref#35, p256). He pities (him/her) in (his/her) temptations and afflictions. ____ receives CHRIST’s increased love out of pity constantly (Heb 4:15). And, when temptations overcome (him/her), CHRIST, in His tenderness, relieves (him/her) with mercy and pardon lest (he/she) sink utterly under its burden (1 John 2:1,2).

In these things CHRIST has fellow-feelings with ____. He grieves with (him/her) as a friend but also graciously supplies all (his/her) needs (Isa 40:11). CHRIST, You identify with ____. In (his/her) affliction You are afflicted (Isa 63:9).

CHRIST intercedes with You, FATHER, for ____’s relief, not only for sin but also for sufferings so that when the work of (his/her) afflictions is accomplished, (he/she) shall have relief (Heb 7:25) (ref#35, p261).

FATHER, I pray ____ understand the great importance of CHRIST’s present ministry of intercession. Because of His great interest in (him/her) (he/she) is “at this day alive, undevoured, merely on the account of the intercession of the Lord Jesus”  John Owen (ref#35, p261). His compassion is the foundation of (his/her) deliverances.

THE SUPREME BEING

FATHER, You are the everlasting GOD (Isa 40:28).

The Author of all—

You are the Originator of everything (ref#110, p92)—

the eternal GOD (Isa 40:28).

You are the Creator of the ends of the earth (Isa 40:28).

You brought it into being—

realized and formed it;

Indeed, You founded it (ref#110, p532).

You are the One who formed all things (Jer 51:19).

You execute—

You are the Maker (ref#110, p817)—

absolute and unrestrained (ref#110, p5).

You sit enthroned as King forever (Ps 29:10).

You order and enact—

setting up and causing to be (ref#110, p465).

You establish Your throne eternally (Ps 29:10).

KING DAVID’S PROPHECIES OF CHRIST’S PASSION

You, FATHER, “…took me (JESUS) from the womb;

you made me trust you at my mother’s breasts.

On you was I cast from my birth,

and from my mother’s womb you have been my God” (Ps 22:9-10 ESV).

“Be not far from me, for trouble is near,

and there is none to help.

I am poured out like water,

and all my bones are out of joint;…” (Ps 22:11,14 ESV).

“…my heart is like wax;

it is melted within my breast;

my strength is dried up like a potsherd,

and my tongue sticks to my jaws;…” (Ps 22:14-15 ESV).

“…you lay me in the dust of death.

For dogs encompass me;

a company of evildoers encircles me;

they have pierced my hands and feet—“ (Ps 22:15-16 ESV).

“I can count all my bones—

they stare and gloat over me;

they divide my garments among them,

and for my clothing they cast lots” (Ps 22:17-18 ESV).

“But you, O Lord,

do not be far off!

O you my help,

come quickly to my aid” (Ps 22:19 ESV)!

FATHER, remind me anew that CHRIST was fully human in His flesh and vividly felt the pressure to rescue Himself out of danger, but instead deferred to You for help that He might be able to perform Your will in total, sinless, obedience.

who lives forever and ever,” (Rev 4:9 ESV).

(I) have waited for him, that he might save (me)…”

(Isa 25:9 ESV).

“In Him…(I) have obtained an inheritance,…

according to the counsel of His will,” (Eph 1:11 NKJV).
