CONFESSION

UNCONSCIOUS USEFULNESS

…FATHER, caution me against my human nature that is so set on being consistent and useful to You. As long as I’m choosing the way to glorify You, You are not glorified. Governing my activities is a sure indication that I am not pleasing You (ref#7, May 18th).

I know that love is not premeditated but spontaneous. “We do not set the statements of Jesus in front of us as a standard; but when His Spirit is having His way with us, we live according to His standard without knowing it” Oswald Chambers (ref#7, April 30th).

“If we try to prove to God how much we love Him, it is a sure sign that we do not love Him. The evidence of our love for Him is the absolute spontaneity of our love…” Oswald Chambers (ref#7, April 30th).

FATHER, I pray for the spontaneity loving You brings. No wonder CHRIST gave over half of His example prayer (the Lord’s Prayer) to adoration and thanks (Matt 6:9-13) to You; He was reacting to Your love.

GOD ALL-SUFFICIENT

“KING OF GLORY,

DIVINE MAJESTY,

Every perfection adorns thy nature

and sustains thy throne;

“The heavens and earth are thine,

The world is thine and its fullness.

Thy power created the universe from nothing;

Thy wisdom has managed all its multiple concerns,…” The Valley of Vision (ref#76, p216).

Thy goodness is unlimited;

so I will wait on thee.

I have everything supplied by thee,

and I am satisfied in thee (ref# 76, p 216).

“GLORIOUS GOD,

It is the flame of my life to worship thee,

the crown and glory of my soul to adore thee.”

It is “…heavenly pleasure to approach thee…” The Valley of Vision (ref#76, p196).

Give me thy Spirit to help me worship,

that I may overlook the world—

so You can bring me into fullness of life—

that I may be refreshed, reassured and set apart (ref#76, p196).

“KING OF GLORY,

DIVINE MAJESTY,

Every perfection

adorns thy nature…” The Valley of Vision (ref# 76, p 216).

PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“Prayer is asking and knocking at a door for something we have not, which we desire, and which God has promised to us” E.M. Bounds (ref#54, p182).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because Your breath gives life (Job 33:4), I will wait for You.

Because You form the spirit of man within him (Zech 12:1), I will wait for You.

Because You teach me more than the beasts of the earth and make me wiser than the birds of the heaven (Job 35:11), I will wait for You.

Because You do great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number (Job 5:9), I will wait for You.

SUPPLICATION

NON CHRISTIAN Backsliders

[We all have friends and family that do not want anything to do with Christianity so it is up to us to pray for their salvation. Here’s an opportunity to pray for them. Fill their name in the blanks.]

BACKSLIDERS NEED TO BE HUMBLE

FATHER, I thank You for Your Word, that encourages me. It gives me more confidence when I pray for the salvation of ____.

Second Chronicles 12 tells about King Rehoboam who ruled Judea. When he was strong he abandoned Your law along with all Israel (2 Chron 12:1). Because of their unfaithfulness, an army so huge they could not be numbered came up from the south against them (2 Chron 12:2,3).

“Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves…” (2 Chron 12:6 ESV). FATHER, when You saw that they humbled themselves, You did not destroy them (2 Chron 12:7). It is true that You only pour out Your wrath on ones who will not humble themselves—on the ones who will not repent (Rev 9:20-21).

I pray that You give to ____ situation after situation with opportunities to humble (himself/herself). I even pray for opportunities like You gave Israel—an overwhelming army against (him/her)—if that’s what it takes.

Even if ____ should humble (himself/herself) and afterwards go back to sinning, it keys me to know there is interaction going on between You and (him/her). I pray earnestly that You continue to draw (him/her). How I long to see many more glimpses of contriteness in (him/her).

YOU VIVIFY

You are the God who works wonders—(Ps 77:14).

luxuriant wonders—

rich and extravagant—

profuse and excessive (ref#110, p807).

With Your arm You redeem Your people (Ps 77:15).

You accommodate and oblige;

You are ready to reconcile and help (ref#110, p8);

You give freely (ref#110, p589).

The hungry soul You fill with good things (Ps 107:9).

Full of affection and love, You are tender (ref#110, p1378).

You satisfy the longing soul (Ps 107:9)

for You are considerate and gentle (ref#110, p1378).

What god is great like our God (Ps 77:13)?

You vivify;

You give life (ref#110, p1494).

Your way, O God, is holy (Ps 77:13).

CONFESSION

INTUITION

“As the power of man’s intellect searches out things pertaining to man, so does our mind by the power of the Holy Spirit understand heavenly things” Geneva Notes (ref#67, [1 Cor 2:11]).

“To know things in our intuition is what the Bible calls revelation. Revelation has no other meaning than that the Holy Spirit enables a believer to apprehend a particular matter…” Watchman Nee (ref#101, p77).

The definition of “intuition” is— “…learning of something without the conscious use of reasoning…” Watchman Nee (ref#110, p709). Kenneth S. Wuest’s, The New Testament, An Expanded Translation, talks of Christians as having a “instinctive perception” of You, FATHER (ref#37, [John 15:15] p252).

I am a subject of the teaching of the HOLY SPIRIT; He makes known truths to me by His illumination (ref#16, [1 Cor 2:10]). His spiritual sensing impinges on me directly without reason or cause (ref#101, p71). This makes it unnecessary to ask for the opinion of others or even to question myself (ref#101, p74). And, the moment I cease to follow my intuition at that very moment I begin to walk after the flesh and end up mingling spiritual things with things of the flesh (ref#101, p31).

“Walking after the spirit involves both the initiation of a work by revelation and execution of it through the Lord’s strength” Watchman Nee (ref#101, p30).

FATHER, give me faith enough to follow Your voice in my heart.

YOUR NAME, O LORD, ENDURES FOREVER

“It is good…to declare your steadfast love in the morning,

and your faithfulness by night,” (Ps 92:1-2 ESV).

“For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,

your faithfulness to the clouds” (Ps 57:10 ESV).

“Your righteousness is like the mountains…

your judgments are like the great deep;…” (Ps 36:6 ESV).

“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and your dominion endures throughout all generations…” (Ps 145:13 ESV).

“…’Great and amazing are your deeds,

O Lord God the Almighty!

Just and true are your ways,

O King of the nations” (Rev 15:3 ESV)!

“Who will not fear, O Lord,

and glorify your name?

For you alone are holy.

…for your righteous acts have been revealed.’” (Rev 15:4 ESV).

“Your name, O Lord, endures forever,

your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages” (Ps 135:13 ESV).

“How great are your works, O LORD,

how profound your thoughts” (Ps 92:5 NIV)!

PRELUDE TO PRAYER

Prayer Facts:

“Prayer…cannot request too much because the Father desires to glorify his Son as much as possible” Bryan Chapell (ref#66, p97).

Reasons for Waiting for GOD:

Because You have given me the Word of Truth and the Gospel of my salvation in CHRIST (Eph 1:13), I will wait for You.

Because You, FATHER, have blessed me in CHRIST with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm (Eph 1:3), I will wait for You.

Because You caused CHRIST to suffer by being tempted, therefore He is able to run to my cry as I am being tempted and exposed to suffering (Heb 2:18), I will wait for You.
